Defiance Beginners Guide

In this post we will look at Defiance and something that is core to the gameplay and that is being better with the weapons generally. You will need to know how to aim and shoot and that sounds simple but there are a couple of ways you can improve your gameplay skill. The main thing that you need to remember in Defiance is the difference between each weapon. That certain weapons are designed with certain ranges in mind.
For instance if you have a shotgun you will be a force to be reckoned with up close but if you are at distance it ends up being VERY underpowered so you need to make sure you know your weapons.
Generally the weapons and their ranges are as follows:
Shotguns are point blank weapons and will work best up close.
SMG’s are up close and are burst weapons meaning that you will be able to fire fast and cause a lot of damage.
BMG’s and Infectors are close range.
Assault Rifles and LMG’s are mid to long range weapons.
Sniper Rifles are of course long range.
So following the above you need to think about your weapon load out and pick weapons that you can swap to that compliments your style. For instance if you are a Sniper you might go for SMG as a side and Sniper as your main weapon.
If you are playing on a PC you can quickly swap weapons by default by rolling the mouse wheel.
Generally you will want to make sure you are zoomed in to shoot when you are starting the game. You can improve your hip firing accuracy with perks but until you get there it is best to zoom in.
Another thing you will want to do is strafe, get used to firing while you are always moving to make yourself a harder target to hit.
Lastly and this is an overlooked one, make sure you press ‘Ctrl’ to roll if you get caught in a corner or are being fired at a lot.
Using the tips above, understanding weapons, range and evasion tactics will improve your skills with Defiance.
